Following these tips will help ensure a successful project.

One of the hardest things about updating your bathrooms is finding a good bathroom renovation company in Christchurch to get it done. Thank us later - we’ve saved you the trouble of searching, and gathered the 10 of the best options based on Google reviews.

(Reviews are accurate at the time of writing 22/12/2025)

1. AA Bathrooms 4.9 / 61 reviews

AA bathrooms have one 1-star review and it’s by someone who never worked with them - their other reviews are completely spotless, so we think they’re deserving of the top spot. The company is run by Austin, a licensed building practitioner, who used to renovate and restore heritage bathrooms in the UK before moving to New Zealand.

Customers have high praise for Austin’s work, with many mentioning that work was completed on time and on budget to a high standard - what more could you want?

2. Evoke Bathrooms and Kitchens 4.9 / 51 reviews

If it weren’t for one rogue review from someone they never worked with (what’s with these people?) Evoke would have 50 five–star ratings. This is a truly family business owned and operated by two grandparents, employing their children, grandchildren, and children’s partners. They offer a unique price promise, where they’ll match the price of a competitor’s like-for-like quote, and their reviews are glowing - several mention their projects being on time, and on budget.

Tips before hiring a bathroom renovation company in Christchurch

How do you choose the right company for you? Online reviews are a great start - it’s also a good idea to check out their past work, either on their social media and website, or in person if possible.

Beyond that here are a few tips for choosing - and things to know before you do:

Get 3+ quotes

It’s a good rule of thumb to get three quotes whenever you undertake a renovation, or building work. That way you can avoid companies who are overcharging, and learn a little bit every time you get a quote.

Check their comms

Before you hire someone you’ll meet them and exchange a few emails - this is a great time to assess their communication. Do they reply quickly? Do you like them, and do they seem trustworthy in person?

Renovations are a complex process, and you’ll likely need to spend lots of time talking with, calling, and emailing whoever you choose - so good communication is essential.

Get fixed price quotes, not estimates

Lots of builders and renovation companies will get estimates from the trades and present this to you with their costing. The problem is, estimates aren’t fixed - if the job ends up taking longer than expected (they often do) then the trades will charge more. For that reason - insist on fixed price quotes.

Double check PC sums

Your bathroom renovation quote may include variable sums, or PC sums. This is to pay for stuff that hasn’t been specified yet, like perhaps the type of tiles you choose, fixtures and fittings, or other costs that can’t be foreseen. It’s a good idea to make sure you fully understand what these are before you commit to anything, as PC sums are often the cause of cost blowouts.

It’s a good idea to eliminate or reduce these by specifying as much as you can in advance.
