Heating and insulation have become non-negotiable for Kiwi homebuyers, shifting from a luxury to a baseline expectation this winter.

A recent survey found 74% of New Zealanders rate good heating and insulation as important or very important. This is driven by a desire for both comfort and lower energy bills.

For sellers, this means features like heat pumps and double-glazing are now considered standard. Properties without them may be less attractive to buyers in the current market.
