Description
Up for grabs is a legendary German-made turntable….the Elac Miracord 760
The Miracord 760 is, knob for knob and screw for screw, almost identical to the 50H, with the exception of the motor. Whereas the 50H uses a hysteresis model, the motor in the 760 is of a high-performance non-synchronous design
When released, the 50H was Elac’s top of the range turntable and was made as an answer to Garrard’s 301 and 401.
The 760 features a huge drive motor synchronous motor, in conjunction with the heavy flywheel mass of the 2.8kg dynamically balanced turntable platter.
It features a universally balanced, high precision tonearm and interchangeable cartridge insert, which accepts all standard cartridges. It also has variable tracking force from 0 – 6 grams, tracking control, anti-skating bias compensator, push-button control and cueing device. When correctly set up, the arm has virtually no friction laterally or vertically and has excellent resonance characteristics.
By means of a fine pitch control device, the speed of the turntable can be corrected within a range of +/- 3% As well as being a 3 speed turntable, this is also fully automatic. Just press the button next to the corresponding record size, and the arm will automatically move over the record and start playing. When the needle gets to the end of the record, it will automatically lift, return to the resting post and turn off.
The turntable is mounted in a solid timber plinth with isolating feet, so it is VERY heavy and more resistant to vibration.
It plays perfectly….and sounds amazing! There are few blemishes on the dust cover…but overall, it’s in very good condition.
It includes a copy of the original user manual ….and a brand-new Audio Technica cartridge/stylus.
$1 reserve….you decide what it’s worth.
