1 – 2 Shifts Per Week (Approx 12 – 20 hours per week)
We are on the lookout for a reliable and physically fit casual team member to join our team at Timaru Port.
If your hands on, safety focused and enjoy working outside this could be the job for you.
About this Role:
As a Stevedore (Wharf Hand) you'll be part of a team responsible for the safe loading and unloading of cargo from ships on the Timaru Container Terminal.
This could include:
- Lashing and Unlashing containers.
- Handling cargo using strops and chains.
- Removing and inserting twist locks into containers.
- Nightshift (usually 7pm-7am) and Dayshift available
Requirements for the Role
- A reasonable level of fitness – most days will be spent on your feet
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions
- Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test.
- Full car license preferred but not essential
- A high level of Health and Safety Awareness.
- Previous experience not necessary
