A dreamer and schemer! Maybe mum was right when she used to describe me as a ‘little Walter Mitty’ – a fictional character of James Thurber. As an adult I referenced the American Heritage Dictionary and found Walter Mitty noted as ‘an ordinary, often ineffectual person who indulges in fantastic daydreams of personal triumphs.’ I now wear this label as a badge of honour. More Bill Bryson than Robert Pirsig, I enjoy sharing my adventures. I come from a line of raconteurs who loved a fireside yarn and I humbly endeavour to continue this affliction for the generations who follow.

This is a refrain that I have oft repeated. Non-motorcyclists just think you are being a bit melodramatic and giving a bit of hype to your passion. Not so … motorcycling is one of the most wonderful medicines for the soul ever discovered.
