TRIUMPH SINGLES (REVISED EDITION) By ROY BACON - AS NEW
VERY RARE
Whilst most people think of Triumphs as just big twins, the factory paid great heed to the likes and dislikes of the mass market of go-to-work, day-to-day motorcyclists, the Triumph singles were the product for them. Here, there is an interesting tale of a series of single cylinder four-stroke motorcycles and scooters. It starts with early prewar singles and then goes into full detail with the 1937 2H, 2HC and T70 and then on through the bigger 350, 500 and 600 ohv and sv machines.
In the 1953 season Triumph released a unit construction 150cc single called the Terrier which grew a couple of years later into the 199cc Tiger Cup. This was produced up to 1968 in road, trials, scramble and trail versions with great sales and competition success. In 1968 he BSA single B25 was produced as the Triumph TR25W Trophy model and in 1971 the Trail Blazer SS and Trail were made alongside the BSA oil in frame versions of the B25SS range. The last Triumph single was released in 1974 as TR5MX Avenger (the BSA B50MX in Triumph trim)
