Description

Well what can I say?

Our fantastic Corolla has served us for 16 years without ever letting us down. It has criss-crossed the country, towed trailers, borne our bikes, loaded lots of luggage, and never missed a beat.

It’s been regularly serviced, and I’ve kept a record of things done to it since we bought it. Before then, it was serviced as a new car.

Although the mileage seems high, it is middle-aged for a Corolla! It’s likely to go on for another 200,000 km (but I can’t guarantee that!).

Overall it’s in reasonable condition for its age, and comes complete with the occasional ding and donk to save you having to be worried about parking it in a supermarket car park.

It’s relatively economical to run, particularly as you can save yourself $1000 or so by only taking out third-party insurance!

We’re only selling because we’re getting a bit older, and wanted a slightly higher car, so have succumbed and purchased a Corolla Cross (since you can’t beat a Corolla!)

I should mention the special features the car has: electric windows at the front and those wonderful old-fashioned wind up ones at the back that the younger generation doesn’t know what to do with! A radio and CD player (remember those?) Air-conditioning which is not contributing much to climate change either in the car or outside of it - but it does take the heat off just a little bit. Oh, it also has a towbar, cloth upholstery so that you don’t burn your legs when it’s hot and sunny (like you did on the old vinyl upholstery), two airbags and antilock brakes. It even has a cosy rear bench seat that splits 60/40 to suit all sizes.

BONUS OFFER; As a special June offer, we’ll even give the lucky purchaser two New World shopping bags, so that you can take your shopping home.

WOF until 12/3/26 Rego until 27/7/25 Last full service: March 2025 at 262,342kms Tyres: about 4mm tread on each

Questions & Answers

  • What do the shopping bags look like? s****g (42) • 1:52 pm, Sat, 7 Jun Good question. I’ll put up a photo on Monday. rob.andy (129) • Saturday, 7 June 2025
  • I’ve added a photo of the New World shopping bags. The successful purchaser will receive one of each. If the price reaches 2000(!) will throw in an extra brown shopping bag, so you get three! Now that’s what I call a deal! Seller comment Saturday, 7 June 2025
  • I forgot to mention two other fantastic features of this car: 1. It comes with a spare number plate that you can use if you are carting something like a bike rack that obscures your rear numberplate. The car also comes with two sets of keys. We have often found that useful when we lose one set 😞 Seller comment Saturday, 7 June 2025
  • Where is pickup location please b*******d (72) • 12:31 pm, Sun, 8 Jun Good question. The car’s been keeping fit driving up the hill on Kennedys Bush, Halswell, Christchurch. That’s where it can be collected. It’s been great exercise that’s kept her fit and good looking! By the way, it’s always been garaged by us. At least until we got the new one. The old Corolla is very understanding and forgiving(!) rob.andy (129) • Sunday, 8 June 2025
  • Does s/he have a name? j********y (50) • 7:29 pm, Mon, 9 Jun Well, thanks so much for that question. It does have a name, but we’re not at liberty to pass it on because, like dog from Footrot Flats, it’s best kept a secret. However, having discussed this in some detail with said car, the white Corolla is quite happy to be renamed by a new purchaser. Methinks that if you choose your name carefully, you’ll have a friend for life! rob.andy (129) • Monday, 9 June 2025
  • One more important feature that’s easily overlooked: a phone holder bracket mounted on the dashboard so you can enjoy satnav on your iPhone or android. Seller comment Monday, 9 June 2025
  • Do you have a buy now price c************3 (0) • 12:00 pm, Wed, 11 Jun Sorry, too late, no can do. I did have $3,500 as the Buy Now (surely a bargain at that price!) but the fast and furious bidding started within a minute of posting the listing and immediately surpassed the measly $500 reserve. If you keep bidding you might yet snag it at the original Buy Now! rob.andy (129) • Wednesday, 11 June 2025
