What is a Battle Map? A Battle Map is a map on which the Miniatures and Terrain Scatter are placed to enable all the players to see what is going on during combat. It is usually divided up into squares 1 inch by 1 inch, or some people use 1 1/4 inch squares or even Hexagons. You can buy preprinted Battle Maps with terrain features or you can make your own with a sheet of cardboard, a ruler and a pen. We are fans of the Loke Giant Book of Battle Maps which you can see used in a lot of our listing pictures.

What is Terrain Scatter? Terrain Scatter means small to medium pieces that you can scatter across the Battle Map/ table to give it a more haphazard, realistic look and provide cover, break up line of sight, etc. Things like barrels, crates, ruined wall segments or barricades, and so on.

What Scale do you use? For our Heros range, they are printed in what is known as 32mm Heroic. Heroic just means features like weapons are exaggerated to make the Miniature look cool. 32mm means the heroes are slightly larger than a 28mm NPC (Non Player Character) or Monster, because it looks better to have the Player character minis stand out on the Battle Map.

Our Townsfolke range of (NPC’s) are all printed in 28mm. Most of our Monsters Range are printed in 28 or 32mm scale adjusted to Dungeons and Dragons creature base sizes, Medium creatures take up 1 square on the Battle Map, Large take up 4 squares (2x2) etc. Our Terrain Scatter is scaled to fit on to Battle Map squares, the image and description of each item shows how big it is on a standard Battle Map, we sometimes include a D20 to give a sense of scale. It is fairly easy to rescale most of our prints, so if you are after something in a particular size or scale just contact us and we will sort out a quote.

What is Kit Bashing? Kit Bashing is customising an existing Miniature by changing or adding details to it, for example removing the current weapon and replacing it with a new one, or adding details to the base.

What 3D Printers do you use? We use Creality Ender 3 FDM printers plus a CR10S Pro V2 for larger or more detailed prints. We print with eSUN PLA+ usually in grey. Miniatures, Monsters and Townsfolke are generally printed using our own profile at layer height .08 to give maximum details and finish. We spend a lot of time ‘dialing in’ each Miniatures Slicing file and don't release it until we are happy with the results. Scatter, Bases and Larger items are printed at .20 layer height, not as much detail but faster cheaper prints. If you want scatter pieces printed at max detail we can do so but it increases the price of them by 2 to 3 times. What does ‘Miniatures are supplied Spray Paint Primed’ mean? All of our 3D printed miniatures/scatter/props are given a basic clean up then spray painted with Rustoleum Priming Paint which is specially formulated for use on plastics. We can supply stuff unpainted if you prefer just send us a note with the listing.

Will I have to do any cleanup work on the Miniature before I paint it? Yes. We give minis a basic cleanup to remove obvious stringing, but if you want to improve on that you may need to prepare the miniature using model files and miniatures tools. The amount of clean-up required pretty much depends on how good you want the miniature to look. Can you print this file I found on Yeggi / Thingiverse /... Yes, we can custom print just about any.STL file. Different files have different licenses attached to them which may mean you can’t resell the physical print but you can use a printing service like dice4dungeons to print it for you.
