To Fame Undying: The Otago Settlers Association 1898-2008 By Sean G Brosnahan
This book was commissioned by the Otago Settlers Association to mark its centennial.
The history is based almost exclusively on the records of the Association itself. These have been supplemented, where possible, with interviews with some - but only some - of the key participants in the story. Over its century of existence the Otago Settlers Association has built up a mountain of records: minutes, correspondence, reports, accounts, membership records, scrapbooks and the like. Much of this material is very well ordered and forms an important part of the archival collections cared for by the Otago Settlers Museum. The Association's Minute Books provide the backbone of this narrative. They contain a fairly comprehensive account of the organisation's activities, personalities and concerns. The Association's correspondence is less well organised or complete: it has been dipped into rather than read in its entirety.
