Description
Extremely Rare, highly collectible cultural chocolate mould featuring an intricately detailed and beautiful vintage Spanish Matador or Harlequin / Jester. Standing proudly at 11” / 30cm tall, this warrior with nerves of steel is getting ready to face down a fierce beast with horns as sharp as a knife in the bull fight arena - the octagon cage has nothing on that.
Made in France from antique tin metal this brave renaissance bachelor filled with pride and nerves of steel is an absolute rarity and makes the most amazing display piece on a mantle on the man cave or Spain / French inspired cottage country kitchens.
Keepsake kitchenware treasure dating back to early 1905, this mold is clearly marked with the famous manufacturer stamp etched into the metal which says LETANG FILS PARIS 108 R. VEILLE DU TEMPLE their manufacturing factory address. Catalogue # of the mould is #3707 and is rated as a A2!!! rarity in Molds Encyclopaedia. Can only see one other for sale overseas currently and this is the baby brother version #3706 and going for over $900.
Exterior shows stunning depth and patina, just look at character in the face and his hands behind back! Inside of mould in good condition for age and no signs of rusting, but would probably not use for edible chocolate due to metal age, use for display decoration ideally, or try your hand at candle making, decorative chalk ware, wax cast or plaster casting. ?Létang Fils, founded in 1832 by Jean-Baptiste Létang Paris. 1891 company moved to 108, Rue Vieille-du-Temple. Létang is still considered to be one of the greatest mould manufacturers, and still operate there to this day however they don’t use the prized tinned steel stamping process any longer and favoured polycarbonate.
Add this highly valuable piece of historical culture to your collection, as this is fit for a museum or permanent exhibition. Seen similar used for movie set, house staging or making figurines with the kids.
