Pure bred, registered Murray Grey bulls, Our herd has been dispersed after 45 years of breeding. The 43 females have already been sold and animals gone to 8 studs between Putaruru and Gore so just the boys remain. Due to the property being on the market we cannot hold them through to spring but the herd sire is ready and waiting for the autumn mating season now. Located Levin.

Herd sire Chequers Solo Mio just turned 3 years old in March. His first crop of calves are showing great promise as yearlings and his second crop is due July/August. He is by Bottlesford Kudos (au) a breed trait leader for growth and carcase weight. Solo Mio is also above breed average for for growth and carcase weight but also for eye muscle area (fillet steak) and marbling % whilst having a much more moderate birth weight than his sire. His first crop of calves averaged 36kgs at birth and all born unassisted and mainly out of 2 year old heifers both pure Murray Grey and white faced dairy crosses. Also available are 10 x R1 Murray Grey bulls by Chequers Solo Mio and Torrisdale Quasi born July/Aug 2023. BVD and 7: 1 vaccinated twice, weaned in February due to dams being sold. Many of them weighed well over 300kgs at that stage. $1900+gst = $2185 each photos of Solo Mio plus some of the yearlings, one of which, Upstat U1 is halter broken as he was shown at the Royal AP&I show in January, placed 1st Murray Grey bull calf and 3rd in All Breeds Beef calf class.
