The Sony VPL-VW870ES is a true 4k laser projector, but it's the optics that really make this projector special.

For pristine image quality across the entire screen, the VPL-VW870ES features an All-Range Crisp Focus (ARC-F) lens. This large-aperture lens adopts an all-glass design for its 18 elements, including six extra low-dispersion (ELD) elements. This ensures optimal convergence of the red, green and blue primaries even at the extreme edges of the image for a clear and vivid image wherever you look.

This is known in some markets as the VPL-VW995ES, if you would like to check out reviews. They tend to sell used for around $20k overseas (plus shipping and GST, of course), so perhaps $25k landed.

As you can see from the photos, I still have this mounted (it comes with a Chief Universal Projector Mount, which I'll also include), in case I am asked to demo the unit. I will get this professionally uninstalled ASAP after selling.

The latest model that replaced this one is the Sony VPL-VW890ES (note the 890, compared to the 870). This sells for $42,995 in NZ, and the optics are basically the same (the main difference, as far as I can tell, is the newer one basically has added dynamic HDR enhancement ... but at a MUCH higher price!
