Antique vintage metal tin chocolate mould from the early 1900 showing a striking and solid large Father Christmas or Belsnickel / Belsnickle delivering gifts and presents! Moulds depicting cats, witches, puppies, Bonzo, Santa Claus or Christmas and Halloween themed types are in very high demand with collectors due to ongoing relatability!

The mold stands at an impressive 22cm tall and is built from thick heavy tinned or nickel steel. Dating to between 1938 - 1950 this double mould is hinged and has factory clasps around it for securing tightly when casting melted chocolate. From the shape and metal, I do believe this to be an Anton Reiche mould however, I have not seen any stamping most likely due to the placement of the hinge. This is a quality piece and one of the most solidly built moulds I’ve seen.

Anton Reiche, heralded as the ‘grandfather’ of chocolate moulds, built his original factory in Dresden, Germany producing over 50,000 different mould designs in his catalogs. Reiche dominated the mould market with intricate design, quality metalwork & innovative forging. Reiche employed the world’s best tool-smiths and mold designers until the war when his factory was destroyed by Allied bombing raids.

Exterior and interior are both perfectly shiny and suitable for using. There is also a solid base plate.
