A fabulous Louis XVI white marble and ormolu mantel clock by "Contreau of Paris" circa 1780 This clock dates to the late 18th Century. The drum case containing the white enamel dial signed as above by "Contreau a Paris", the face with Roman numerals, with a frieze of leafy-swags and very rare Wedgwood plaque, surmounted and flanked by a flowering finials. Supported by ormolu mounted cameo style blue glass plaques to the two columns. The bell strike movement with a suspended sunburst and mask pendulum. Raised on Empire feet. 325 x 110 x 475mm.
