Description
Here’s something I guarantee you won’t see every day and one for the afficionados of tone. This really is something a little special. A rare, collectible, 1976 Tama 3565 dreadnought acoustic. Made for the Western market only, these were a replica of the legendary Martin D35. This guitar has amazing full tone and lasting sustain ..all gently seasoned for 42 years. Handbuilt by select Ibanez luthiers in Japan this guitar features:
- Martin Headstock Shape;
- Handcarved Martin style scalloped bracing;
- chunky C style neck profile
- AAA solid Spruce top;
- Ebony fingerboard and bridge;
- 3 piece solid back - Honduran rosewood on the outside and Jacaranda (another name for Brazilian rosewood - the holy grail of tone woods) in the centre. Gorgeous wood and impressive workmanship.
It has the usual small nicks and dents you would expect on an instrument this old. However, the neck is straight, frets are good, level and not worn out; it plays well. It does come with a hard case that I suspect is the original: the case is pretty average with one broken latch..but it is authentic.
These are selling on Reverb.com and EBay between $USD 800-1100. They are rapidly appreciating as collectors and players latch on to these vintage gems.
I simply have too many guitars; they should be played, not stored.
