2023 Specialized Epic Pro

This bike is being auctioned off on behalf an of insurance company, after it was on the roof of a car and got damaged in a drive-thru.

Frame size is Large

Looking at the bike, we can’t see any obvious damage, so we would recommend you come and check the bike out for yourself prior to bidding. (There are 2 potential areas we saw which we have taken close up photos of, aside from that, we didn’t notice anything too obvious)

Reading the assessment we saw, which was somewhat vague, it seems it will need some carbon frame repair and further assessment to check if the other components need repair/replacement, I.e the wheels etc.

The bike came to us with the rear tyre not installed, although it is with the bike.

As with all insurance claimed bikes we auction off, professional inspection will be required before you use it (for safeties sake)

The winning bidder can collect from our city office. Otherwise if you are from out of town, we do have a spare bike box here we can put it in and you are welcome to arrange your own carrier to collect it for you.

So this being an insurance write off, we'd have to assume that the frame should be considered not useable. Hi, Looking at the photos, I have 2 points where stress marks are visible - Mid top tube 2marks opposite each other & headset top shows marks. Is it possible to have these checked? It’s not ours to be posting online and has little value to anyone bidding. It was a vague assessment I.e it mentioned an estimate for carbon repair based on photos. And the price of replacement wheels if they needed to be replaced once they has been looked at (ie they hadn’t actually been properly looked at). But the main takeaway from it was that the frame is damaged and will need repair. No obvious damage we could see, hard for us to confirm they spin straight as the rear wheel doesn’t have a tyre installed and whatever the grey/foam thing is, doesn’t sit perfectly straight, But for as best we can see they seem ok. twice_nz (8790) • Thursday, 2 May 2024
