Description

ROBEY 28295 (CAPTAIN SCOTT) 3 Speed Double Crank Compound Road Locomotive. Built 1909. The oldest of only five of this make and model surviving in the world. This is a truly once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase this beautifully restored and well-maintained engine, painted in the original colours and professionally lined. All original factory polished parts have been nickel -plated to ease cleaning. All brass fittings and lagging straps are polished as is funnel top and lamp. This lamp was supplied with engine in 1909. The engine is in very good condition, solidly built and has machine cut gears. The boiler is sound and has retained its original pressure ticketed at 180 P.S.I. Captain Scott is well known in New Zealand, featuring in countless Parades, Shows, Advertising, Posters, Calanders, Newspapers, through to hard cover publications, merchandise, TV etc. The many extras include floor drip trays x two, heavy jack, spark arrester, funnel cap, motion covers and steering gear cover (not restored.) Two Robey transfers, crankshaft splash guard, gaskets and gland packing, bunker passenger seat and engine seat pad. Canvas engine cover and shed dust cover, steam cylinder oil, heavy axle and gear grease, grease gun and adaptor, governor belt, paint (part tins red and green,) steam coal ( approx Half ton.) Plus, counter weighted shed light up flue assembly, and more. I have owned this engine for fifty years and it has been my pride and joy. But now age and health have caught up with me and the time has come to find a new owner. I do hope the new owner/ owners will get as much pleasure from owning this engine as I have had.
