Description
An imperial super presision 1969 TBF-H Hardinge lathe fully restored fittted with new matched headstock bearings and new variable speed belts. It has a taper turning attachment and a fixed steady and a rear splash guard. There is a full set of 36 Vertex 5C collets from 3mm to 1 inch in both metric and imperial sizes. There are 3 jaw and 4 jaw chucks which can be changed to the 5C collet holder very quickly. It has a large 1 1/2 HP 2 speed 3 phase motor with a comprehensive set of electrical contols. There is no gearing involved in the drive system hence no markings on the finish of the work piece. It has two speed ranges, 125 to 1000 rpm and 376 to 3000 rpm, controlled via two sets variable cones and belts and a mechanical speed indicator. There is power feed to the longnitudinal and cross slides, via a sperate DC motor mounted on the apron, these are engauged by multi plate cluches which can both be used at the same time. There is adjustable speed conrol on the power feed with a switched directional control. There are black lash elinator adjustments on the cross and top slides and the tailstock spindle and the there is a handy scale indicator on the longtiudinal handle. The top slide has a quick extraction facility for screw cutting and there is a four position adjustable apron stop. The lathe bed is a hardened steel plae with virtually no wear over the full length. There is a large suds pump and a splash gaurd at the rear. These American lathes were made for fine repeditive production work and were designed and built to last with years of continuous use.
