Canterbury Feed Assessment Ltd is a respected provider of feed, soil and plant testing, forage analysis, and agricultural support services to farmers and rural businesses throughout New Zealand. We are currently seeking a friendly, organised, and professional Receptionist / Office Administrator to join our team in Ashburton.
About the Role
As the first point of contact for our clients and visitors, you will play a key role in creating a positive experience while providing efficient administrative support to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of our office.
This is a varied position suited to someone who enjoys working in a busy environment, has excellent attention to detail, and takes pride in delivering outstanding customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome visitors and provide professional front-of-house service.
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls and email enquiries.
- Process client sample submissions and maintain accurate records.
- Prepare reports, correspondence, and other documentation.
- Manage data entry and maintain databases and filing systems.
- Coordinate courier bookings and incoming and outgoing mail.
- Assist with invoicing, purchase orders, and general accounts administration.
- Order and maintain office supplies and stationery.
- Provide administrative support to management and laboratory staff.
- Schedule appointments and assist with diary management.
- Ensure reception and office areas remain organised and presentable.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Previous experience in a receptionist, administration, or customer service role.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and Xero.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- A professional, friendly, and approachable manner.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Experience within the agricultural, rural services, or laboratory sectors, knowledge of rural farming systems and terminology, or familiarity with the needs of farmers and rural businesses is desirable but not essential.
