Description

Manufactured by Collier & Beale Ltd for H.W.Clarke Ltd Five valves; 6BE6, 6BA6, 6AV6, 6QA5, 6X4 Broadcast=AM only, Controls; top tuning, off/on and tone, volume Originally coloured plastic cabinets were produced (Ivory, Walnut, Maroon, Pastel Green, Pastel Blue, red) although these cracked with heat and so later versions used painted black and brown bakelite with heat shields inside the top of the cabinet. The set had a cardboard back containing all the local radio station and their frequencies- this was apparently because consumers were upset about a dial which did not have their favourite radio station call sign on it. A run of 5000 sets was produced to reduce costs, especially the tooling cost of the cabinet (1000-2000 was typical at the time, so this was huge for our small market), the radio has an unusual bakelite chassis. The series one plastic Walnut cabinet is in great condition with no cracks The radio is in GREAT GOING CONDITION and gets all broadcast station clearly and has plenty of volume for a small radio. Measurements; 250 mm long, 150 mm high and 130 mm wide
