Description

Maker: Pacemaker Radio Co., New Zealand Era: Late 1930s–mid-1940s Type: Mantel valve radio Condition: Working (as stated)

Original Pacemaker mantel valve radio, manufactured in New Zealand during the early 1940s. This is a genuine locally-made set from the classic pre-war / WWII era, featuring its original station dial, Rola speaker, and American-pattern valve lineup typical of Pacemaker’s production of the time.

Original wooden cabinet (unrestored) with age-related marks, scratches and finish loss. Structurally sound; no breaks or missing trim. Original Bakelite knobs. Original glass dial with pre-1950 NZ station markings (YA/ZB network stations etc.). Scale and graphics intact. Tuning and volume controls operate. Chassis complete and unmodified. Valve lineup includes 6X5GT, 6SQ7 and others standard to Pacemaker sets. Rola speaker present and original. Dusty but tidy; no visible post-factory alterations. Currently in working condition, receiving stations and producing audio.

Sold strictly as-is due to age. Collectors will be aware that original sets of this era typically require replacement of capacitors and a safety check if intended for regular operation.
