This Antique ice box or cooler - a rare item and not often seen in NZ. Possibly constructed from kauri and other unknown timbers. (Often these were made of oak) Made circa late 1800s and early 1900's.

The top door opens to reveal a metal lined compartment where large blocks of ice would be placed to cool the unit. Both doors have a strong latch and open to reveal the metal lined compartment. Lower compartment has metal rack inside.

As you can see this fabulous piece of kitchen appliance history has been well loved and used over the years and has developed a wonderful aged patina. There is wear, dings and imperfections, there is some external historic borer present, but this was treated by previous restorer. We haven't seen any activity since owning it. (Ref photos)

Over all it is in solid, sturdy condition with minor age appropriate flaws. Dimensions: Width 560, Depth 400, Height 1000 (1 meter)
