/ STUNNING PAIR /

This impressive large pair of framed artwork prints would be an ideal feature in a villa or similar - or perhaps even a commercial outlet.

Both have heavy rimu frames, with glass, and measure 96.5cm wide by 76cm deep overall.

Print No 1:

The print itself is 70cm by 49cm, and is nestled in a white bevelled mount with a blue edge and corresponding blue outline.

It is untitled but is reminiscent of similar artworks featuring Victorian homes in the Auckland seaside suburb of Devonport.

The boathouses and background are similar to those featured in artwork by Michelle Ballamy of Orakei Basin along Tamaki Drive in Auckland.

It was professionally framed in 1997 (see 97 in blue pen in photo) by Pictures & Frames: State of the Art, who had five Auckland outlets at the time.

There is a hand-written note on the label: Victoria’s Secrets, Banwell. Banwell is actually a small village in northern Somerset, England, and is inland - so there is no obvious connection.

There are strong hangers on the back of each, and from the look of the shadow line on Print No 1, it may never have been hung. The same is likely with Print No 2.

Print No 2:

This print is 73x52cm, and is nestled in a grey-blue bevelled mount.

It is also untitled and features Victorian homes and villas with the Auckland harbour bridge, tall CBD buildings and the sky tower, with the gulf islands in the background.

The mirror image of the bridge and sky tower, along with the high hill resembling one of the city’s former volcanoes, is a bit of a mystery.

Perhaps someone can enlighten us.

Both are in very good condition for their age. There are two small marks on the top left centre of the frame on Print No 2.
