Art Glass Chook/Chicken/Cockerel by Murphys, New Zealand

This is a wonderful and collectible piece of vintage New Zealand art glass. The figurine is in the shape of a plump chicken or cockerel (chook).

Colour: Vibrant yellow body with a speckled black/brown frit pattern, and a bold red glass comb/wattle.

Material: Hand-blown art glass.

Maker: Murphys, New Zealand.

Identifying Mark: Has the original clear label on the base, which is consistent with the "Signature Style by Murphys New Zealand China" stickers found on their pieces (though it is quite difficult to read). Murphys Art Glass was a well-known producer of paperweights and ornaments in New Zealand, often using a Murano-style.

Condition: Excellent vintage condition. No chips or cracks.

This quirky, colourful piece would make a great addition to any art glass collection, or a unique piece of New Zealand memorabilia.
