Description
This is a collectible reproduction of a Benin bronze leopard sculpture. It measures 7 x 4 cm It looks fantastic and a bit scary! Sadly there is a weld at the base of the tail but this has been skilfully repaired The leopard is a powerful symbol in Benin culture, representing the Oba's (king's) authority and high status as "King of the Forest". Historically, these figures were made using the lost-wax technique by specialist guilds for the royal palace. The spots are typically depicted as raised circles, as seen in the image. These items are highly valued for their craftsmanship and cultural heritage, making them popular among collectors.
