Some very striking timber on a very cool minimalist pair of bedside drawers.
This pair is very rare being made from solid Wenge which is an African hardwood timber known for its beauty, stability and strength. Highly prized by furniture makers and fine guitar makers, comparable to Ebony and isn't seen on this side of the planet often and when combined with a sleek Md-Century design- very desirable.
Made in the 50s-60s these drawers each have a pair of dovetailed drawers which run easily on hardwood rails and feature cotton reel style handles, one piece tapering corner legs and a superb negative detail- floating top.
Condition: these have been gently stripped of any old finish, any loose joints properly dismantled, cleaned, glued and clamped, fine sanded by hand then sealed and finished in six or more coats of Danish oil and hard wax.
