Absolutely beautiful condition, rare configuration and highly collectable mid century sideboard. Has a central drinks cabinet and another glass shelf for the display section (not shown in photos). Fully professionally restored when bought, a striking piece for any discerning MCM collector. The only minor minor defect is a small scratch on the top (see photo).
This vintage wooden unit is a Mid-Century Modern (MCM) sideboard, typically crafted from teak or elm and dating from the 1960s to 1970s. Its design features characteristic sculptural wooden "cat's eye" or button handles and tapered legs.
Potential Manufacturers and Styles: While many similar pieces from this era were made by prominent British and Scandinavian manufacturers, specific makers identified for units with these design elements include: Wrighton (England): Known for 1960s teak sideboards with clean lines and round tapered legs. Elite (Australia): Produced teak sideboards with integrated drawers and sliding doors. Portwood (England): Often included glazed display sections alongside drawers and cupboards in their 1970s designs. Scandart Ltd: Known for "giant" sideboards made from solid elm wood. Parker Furniture: Their "Nordic" range famously features distinctive "cats eye" handles similar to those on this unit.
