Description
This beautiful Himalayan cedar camel box is approx 100 Years old and is from the Swat Valley In Pakistan. The box contains several hidden compartments and two main large compartments (with small inset mirrors) which open from the front. The box has small round plates and brass dangles, which rattle when the box on the camel is moving.
Soft padding and blankets were placed on the camel and the box snugly fitted and strapped in place. I originally thought that this was a wedding trunk, but I note, it could be for general use by nomads people of the Indus Valley.
The Swat Valley is a beautiful mountainous area that straddles the Afghan-Pakistan border.
There are small areas of minor damage, but this doesn't detract at all from the beauty of the piece.
Approx Size: 229 cm Long x 110 cm High x approx 63 cm Deep
