Charming antique papier-mâché oval trinket or snuff box, hand-painted and lacquered, dating to the late 19th / early 20th century.

Decorated with colourful floral motifs in pinks, greens and gold gilt detailing. The interior is finished in traditional black lacquer. A lovely decorative piece with genuine age and character.

These boxes were commonly produced in Kashmir, India, and exported to Britain and Europe around 1900.
