Antique Victorian Wide Embossed Curb Link Padlock Bracelet, circa 1880
These were once love token jewels. The gentleman would buy one for his lady when he was shipping off to war or working away for long lengths of time. He would lock the bracelet on his betrothed and keep the key. When women wore these it was a symbol that she has been spoken for.
Buttery rose gold filled curb link day and night bracelet. One side has a fancy embossed design and the other side is plain with no design, fitting for daytime. The clasp is a repousse heart shaped padlock that unlocks with the tiniest of keys. It is an absolute wonder that the key is still around! There is some wear on the back of the padlock. The key and padlock work as they should.
Approximate measurements: Key: 1/2" Padlock: 3/4" high, 1/2" wide Bracelet: Length:7 1/4" with an optional loop that would bring it to 7 1/2" Width: 1/2" Light wear, consummate with age. Overall exquisite condition

Your auction ted305 (802 • 8:31 pm, Fri, 5 Dec )Thank you :) jag1920 (2797 • Friday, 5 December 2025 )It's a bit hard to tell in the photos, has any of the rolled rose gold platting come off exposing the base metal, and is over brass or copper thanks. diamondzzzz1960 (279 • 12:54 pm, Mon, 8 Dec )Hello, not good loss at all. This is what's known as a night and day bracelet, it's been made "rough surface" one side and smooth the other If you wear smooth surface during day then flip it over for night time wear it catches the light. I believe base metal would be brass. The Victorian era is well known for it's rolled gold in jewelry. Thank you for your interest and good luck should you choose to bid :) jag1920 (2797 • Monday, 8 December 2025 )
