Description
Northamptonshire Regiment cap badge.
Bi-Metal cap badge, with a slider backing.
The Northamptonshire Regiment was formed in 1881, it was an amalgamation of the 48th Foot and the 58th Foot. In 1960 the Northamptonshire Regiment was amalgamated with the Royal Lincolnshire Regiment. The Northamptonshire Regiment saw action in both the Great Wars, in WW1, these regiments were stationed on the Western Front throughout WW1, Gallipoli, Salonika. In WW2, stationed in Burma, France, Italy, Sicily and North Africa.
This badge, with Gibraltar at the top, which was a title earned by the 58th Foot in 1770-1783, in the Great Siege, along with the Castle of Gibraltar and Key of Gibraltar, which is at the centre of this badge, symbolising the regiments historical connection to the siege. Underneath is the wording Talavera, this honour was granted to the predecessor the 48th Foot, for actions taken in the Peninsula War. Surrounded by a Laurel wreath, the symbol of honour.

In good condition, very small amounts of tarnish on the Northamptonshire area at the front, one spot on the castle, minor. The slider is slightly bent at the top, but still in good working order.
