Description
Another one of my favourite EK 1’s. This is a later war piece, well worn and the original owner has scratched his initials twice to the screw plate as he obviously prized his award highly.
It is by the rare and high quality maker ‘Viktoria’, go and do some research on the maker. Late war due to the absence of silver, its plated brass, but very well made and nicely field worn. A real warhorse!
It was absolutely filthy (the back) and had verdigre on the screw plate when I originally acquired the cross. I gently removed it. I don’t usually touch anything but in this case intervention was warranted.
I don’t think you will find another by this maker!
Depending on timing item may be sent from Australia as we regularly travel between NZ and Australia, if so - note it's a big world out there beyond NZ and Australia post express tracked is probably faster and more reliable than NZ post.

hi,, navy ? aaron235 (228 • 5:38 pm, Wed, 8 Oct )No idea mate! nzef1940 (1040 • Wednesday, 8 October 2025 )Interestingly the back looks BRASS silver plated. girlingm (939 • 10:48 am, Sun, 12 Oct )Yes exactly as per my description… it’s a later war example. nzef1940 (1040 • Sunday, 12 October 2025 )Germany experienced severe metal shortages during World War I due to the Allied naval blockade, which cut off vital imports. To cope, Germany implemented measures like rationing, recycling scrap metal, seizing materials from occupied territories, and using synthetic substitutes where possible. However, these efforts were insufficient, leading to military production issues and civilian hardships. Seller comment Sunday, 12 October 2025
