Description

Beautiful Flintlock pistol, shortened by arsenal to the 9” New Land length. A Great Example. In 1777 all these were made 12”, but, (with improved powder), the lengths of all were shortened by 3”. You can tell this particular one has been shortened, as the barrel isn’t quite central as on a new made 1804 one. Also, note that’s an arsenal replaced a 1801, reinforced, “figure 8” cock, much stronger than the earlier graceful, serpentine cock. And also the newer, p1804 had an attached ramrod for easier loading on a galloping horse. RYAN & WATSON, were in BIRMINGHAM in the 1780s, and so has BIRMINGHAM, pre 1815, crossed swords, proofs on the barrel. Brilliant clear GR crown on lock plate. Snick, Snick, action works crisply. I’m not importing any more. Just too Difficult now… Grab it while it’s there…. these are now an endangered species ! Included a few photos for your interest. I’ve imported Fantastic guns. Come and Collect in CHB, see our museum, buy More !… or shipped for $50. Lex
