Quite a special piece of early Waikato history, this, and one that was found locally as well (metal detected in a rural area between Raglan and Hamilton not far from Pirongia).

Part of the uniform of the NZ Armed Constabulary, an organisation that performed many and varied duties in and around the central Waikato region prior to the formation of the NZ Police in 1886.

These are very rare due to their age and numbers manufactured, not many survive to this day.
