This A3 poster is a high-quality reproduction made from an original WW2 Service Rifle instructional pull-out recovered from the estate of a Royal New Zealand Air Force Pacific-theatre armourer.

These charts were issued during the war as centre-page pull-outs in New Zealand military and home-front magazines, most commonly New Zealand Listener, Weekly News, and occasionally Evening Post Saturday Supplement, which published illustrated technical cutaways and training aids for NZ forces.

The originals were printed on thin magazine stock, almost always with a central spine crease. Collectors of wartime New Zealand ephemera note that full surviving sets of these rifle-training pull-outs are extremely rare, as most were pinned on barracks walls or discarded after use.
