LAST 5 Reduced price to clear them out Tektites - $16 each
Tektites are natural glass, formed from an asteroid impact. Around 788,000 years ago, an asteroid hit Earth somewhere in southeast Asia. The impact ejected a lot of material. Some of that material, due to massive heat and pressure, was turned in to tektites. The ejected material landed back on Earth, this is known as the strewnfield - or specifically, the Australasian strewnfield. This strewnfield is the youngest and largest of all known tektite strewnfields - covering up to 30% of the Earths surface! These tektites are Indochinites, even though they are from the same strewnfield, these tektites get different names based on their find location (Philippinites and Australites being the other types). When a large asteroid or comet impacts the Earth, a lot of heat and pressure is generated. This heat and pressure can change terrestrial rock in to glass. Moldavite, which is a brilliant translucent green colour is a type of tektite. These tektites are a yellow/tan colour if the specimen is thin enough.
