Description
Mosasaur fossil tooth in matrix* - $9 each Ouled Abdoun Basin, Morocco Cretaceous period, 94 - 66 million years ago
It needs to be noted first and foremost - the teeth are absolutely real Mosasaur teeth, however they are not high quality like I typically stock. Some have broken tips, some are repaired. They are set in an artificial matrix.
These specimens are great for kids getting in to fossil collecting. They can be handled (carefully, the matrix is somewhat fragile) and examined, they display well but are inexpensive if it was accidentally dropped. The matrix becomes soft and breaks away fairly easily in water so these become a "dig your own fossil" type thing if you wanted to do that. Water doesn't hurt the fossil at all. The pics are a sample only of what is available (I have many more), some are nicer and some are in worse condition (just being totally honest, I'm not trying to oversell these haha). This will be a lucky dip, I will grab one at random for you.
Mosasaurs were marine reptiles that lived alongside the dinosaurs in the Cretaceous period and they dominated the oceans, with one species reaching a massive 17m in length. Similar to sharks, Mosasaurs shed their teeth as a tooth wore out, so these crowns are shed teeth. Mosasaurs are related to modern day Monitor lizards (eg the Komodo Dragon)
Pick up is welcome from the Hibiscus Coast. Tracked courier to any urban address is $7 (RD is extra) I can combine postage up to 4 specimens, but the freight cost will increase a little bit if you want 5 or more.
