Description: This impressive New Zealand–made Pounamu Maori Axe (Toki) is a beautifully presented example of traditional Maori craftsmanship combined with high-quality modern display work. Carved from richly coloured natural New Zealand pounamu, the blade displays strong depth of colour and striking natural patterning, making every piece completely unique.
The carver of this axe whakapapas to Ngati Kahungunu and Te Ati Awa, giving this taonga genuine cultural provenance and connection. The fitted wooden handle is finely carved with flowing koru-inspired detailing and is securely bound to the pounamu blade using traditional-style lashing. A matching custom timber stand is included for stable and elegant display.
Offered as brand new old shop stock, this piece has never been used and remains in excellent presentation condition. A powerful and symbolic work, ideal for collectors of Maori taonga, New Zealand cultural art, or as a significant feature display for home, office, or corporate space.
