Description
Lovely hand pressed chocolate mould from the famous Sommet E., Paris France metalworks manufacturers. This wonderful piece is marked with the stylised ‘dancing dolphin’ logo which is indicative of it being a Sommet mould, along with the year of production 19”49” and the patent warning “Depose” all captured on the metal flanges. I have j clouded a photo with information too.
Both sides are matched and fit snugly, comes with a metal clip to keep fastened. The exterior has beautiful dark patina from 75 years of use in old rustic villa kitchens. These would have made little chocolates that would all the craze for the children and kids parties back then!
A great historical item for military or train enthusiasts. This mould is still really shiny inside and could be used for all sorts of purposes like wax figurines for a train set, although I did at first wonder if this was a small German SS nazi for a while and wasn’t sure if I should sell but I’m pretty certain now it’s a conductor.
Sommet, E., Paris, France: 1882-1962. Sommet’s mark was a “dancing dolphin,” reminiscent of a renaissance stylized dolphin, shaped like an S. On some of his molds you might find a diamond with a number inside indicating the year the mold was made or stamped with an “L” (Liter) followed by a number. R molds that were marked with the “L” were made to be used for both chocolate and ice cream.
