Printers Plane 1880’s
This is a very basic printers plane which I'm told dates back before 1900.
This plane ran along a cast iron track/rail and trimmed the edge of a pile of News Print, print material & possibly printers blocks.
Heavy Cast Iron.
Length is 14” cutting face/sole is 2” wide, blade is 1 1/8” wide.
Blade is probably not original, handle has some borer & chip off top.
Brass thumb screws
I have left it unrestored, there may be a makers name under the paint?
Very rare item, can only find 3 on Google.
The carpenters Shoot (Shute) board plane is similar but a lot more common & lighter.
