Large 3D abstract painting of a stunning native New Zealand Sacred Kingfisher / Kotare bird fishing, dipping and diving into a pool of water.

This is the third painting in a series of 4 Kotare paintings. The series are almost like a biography & tell my life story & have taken 4 years to complete.

I think this painting is my best work as an artist and is almost like a self portrait.

The Kotare are symbolic of freedom, courage, adventure, balance, and a free spirit.

The magnificent colours of the 3D Kotare reflect & undulate in the glistening water.

Kingfishers are both physical and metaphorical indicators of healthy water. The pool ripples are symbolised as creation of self-care for tinana / physical, wairua / spiritual, and hinengaro / psychological health.

There are 3 different whirlpools swirling fast around the Kotare which describe unsettling elements.
