Description
William Direen's third novel tells the story of a man in love, haunted by an octet of chanting misfits. It is set in Paris.
Bill Direen is a bit of a legend in NZ, a prolific and eclectic writer and musician, whose music has spanned rock, punk, folk and spoken word. In the 1980s, he released a string of critically acclaimed records (using band names including The Bilders, Six Impossible Things and Soluble Fish) on his own labels and through Flying Nun. He also founded Christchurch theatre group Blue Ladder. Based in Europe for long periods of time, he has written poetry and prose extensively and maintained a prolific musical output (now through Auckland's Powertool Records). In 2017 he was the subject of Simon Ogston's documentary Bill Direen: A Memory of Others.
