FROM AMAZON

A superlative book about the rise of Napoleon from boyhood to manhood, unknown military student to glorious emperor. If you are to read only one book about Napoleon then make it this one. It's an obsessive read.

When I was reading the book it was a pleasure to be immersed in its eloquence and well-researched knowledge; when I wasn't reading the book I was thinking about reading the book and couldn't wait to pick it up again.

Its wonderfully informative without being dull and the chapters flow with ease. Extremely interesting, illuminating and one gets a feel for the real man behind the campaigns and how he navigated himself for the interests of France, himself and his family, around one of the most turbulent times in history. It really is an impressively written book, illustrating this historical period within it's over 700 pages of magnetic reading.
