It then shows the recommendations for line closures of the Beeching Report, gives information on lines preserved, and finishes with forty-five pages of maps covering both counties in full and showing the railway routes differentiated between the lines that are open to passenger services, those that are open to freight traffic only, preserved lines and those closed completely. Station names with earlier versions are given and the major road network is shown as a means of placing the open and closed lines into their local context.
