NZ Blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon) is a high-quality hardwood timber native to south-East Australia and established in NZ for well over 100 years. It is a very sought after timber for its rich dark colour and fine finish. Our Blackwood has been sustainably grown in the forests of South Westland, established by the NZ Forest Service in the early 1980’s as a replacement species for the dwindling rimu supply. We produce and stock three grades: Dressing A Heart, Dressing A Colour, and Feature Grade.
