Description
This winter, Karen Walker’s iconic Runaway Girl makes her on-piste debut and what better destination than Coronet Peak for her first season. Look at her go!
Karen Walker has designed this one-off hand knit sweater to be auctioned for charity as part of Coronet Peak’s 75th anniversary celebrations.
Karen commissioned one of her local collaborators, Auckland based knitting maestro Kurt Payne, to handcraft this special sweater featuring Runaway Girl’s black run on Coronet Peak. Meticulously hand knitted by Kurt over 30 hours, it’s crafted exclusively with 100% New Zealand merino wool kindly provided by Perriam whose luxury yarn is grown just a stone’s throw away from Coronet Peak in the Central Otago High Country.
The full amount raised from the auction of this sweater will go to national charity Trees That Count. In partnership with Te Tapu o Tane and Soho Property, and with support from Department of Conservation and local community, Trees That Count is enabling the planting of 10,000 native trees on Coronet Peak this Spring.
Size: Small - Body length - 69cm - Chest width - 54cm
Care instructions: Hand wash, cool iron, dry flat in shade.
