Way back when the first 128K Macintosh was launched no dealer could become an Apple Authorised Repairer unless the dealership had at least one Apple trained technician and the "techo" had a full kit of Apple approved tools. I had all of that here in Whakatane and two of the devices which were used to discharge any electrical residue which might have remained in components such as Cathode Ray Tubes.

The first unit received from Apple NZ was complete with its Apple Service Number : 076-0381 embossed in the handle! We needed another. The one received was different - it did not have that embossed number and Apple said there would not any more of the initial unit.
