Drying * Air-dried for over 10 years * Optional kiln drying: +$100 * Final moisture content approx. 10–14% MC

Condition Notice – Eco-Friendly Native Timber

All Rata slabs were recovered from naturally fallen, long-dead trees, not from living forest stands. These timbers are legally and responsibly sourced, making them an environmentally responsible choice.

Because the logs lay in the bush for many years before recovery, the timber characteristics may differ from freshly felled, green-sawn Rata.

Provenance & Story

Recovered between 2012–2013 from a remote, long-dead Rata forest near Mt Taranaki. Our bush crew spent over six months extracting these massive ancient trunks by hand through rugged and challenging terrain.
