The speakers were aimed at the UK ear and are very, very good.

Excellent sound. Crisp high end. Bass is excellent for the size of speaker. The Brooklands edition is the one to go for. Made in England, the 176 was a collaboration between Sony Japan and Sony UK whose headquarters are in Brooklands. Gold plaque and gold coloured screws and the extra base demarcate it from the standard 176e. I believe the drivers differ too.
