I've used many more expensive or heavier strobes but Keystrobe is the best; lightweight (won't damage a record if accidentally dropped), small (easily placed near where you need it, so it gets used) and reliable (I'm still using mine after six years on the original battery). External speed controllers make built-in strobe lights off-speed since frequency is varied, and bulbs are best disconnected from the motor supply anyway. There's good reason to check frequently on some systems - vintage idlers have main bearings prone to speed variation from temperature / running time - lightweight and low torque 'tables can also be safely checked with a record playing to factor stylus drag.
